Hoping to get costume pictures tonight when we go back to the hospital so check back later:) Brooklynn and Giovanni have both started bottle feeding. They get to try at one feeding each day to take their formula from the bottle. Both are doing really well taking about 10 mL at a time. This is a huge success in the milestones they have to reach before being able to come home. Obviously they have to be able to take each and every feeding from the bottle with no problems before we can even have the conversation about them coming home but we are taking steps in the right direction! Both of these two are now dressed in clothes and looking even cuter than usual! Jade was put back on her nasal canula and seems to be doing much better. She will probably reamin on it for 5-7 days before they try taking her off of it again. She works hard at her breathing so we were surprised when she came off it so early but did pretty well until just the other day when she had several episodes within an hour. Kensley has come off her nasal canula and is doing great! Leighton remains on his but is progressing towards becoming more independent. These two seem to be our social butterflies so far. They both love to get attention from anyone who will give it to them and stay awake most of the time while being held to check things out. All of the babies will have another round of brain scans done next week as well as screening for retinopathy of prematurity (issues dealing with their eyes). I will keep everyone updated with the results as we get them!

What a beautiful family! Congratulations on the healthy births of your 5 newest members! I just read your whole blog...start to finish. Although my husband and I did not have quints, I could relate with so many of your postings - your emotions, your pregnancy aches (those darn hospital beds!), NST's, the anxiety of the births, the pure JOY,...I could go on and on. Anyway we had triplets who are going on 8 months and a friend from Brunswick mailed us the articles, so thought I'd check out your site. Your babies and big girl are beautiful! Keep up the good work....and feel free to email me :)

Hi Leann! I was so excited to log on and find not only your update filled with good news, but also current pictures! Those babies are so adorable! I just cant get over their rapid development and growth progress. I am so very happy to hear how well your new bundles of joy are doing. I absolutely love the picture of Lexi holding Kensley! The big sister roll seems to come so natural for her. By the way, Lexi is a very pretty girl with a super smile! Thank you, kindly for taking the time to blog and share it with all of us. This blog will surely be a treasured gift for all of your kids someday. Find time to rest, momma!

Seeing all of your pics brings back so many bittersweet memories. I feel your pain as parents being torn between being there for your older kids and being in the NICU for your babies. My oldest was only 2 1/2 when Josh came along. We did that daily drive from Medina to Fairview for 3 months. And we had only been in Medina for 1 year at the time with no family here, so we had to rely on the gracious babysitting offers from neighbors and church friends to babysit while we made the trek to Fairview. I felt such guilt pangs leaving my 2 year old to be in the NICU. Love your kangaroo care pics...so good for baby and parent...great bonding!!! It was so funny, because the first time my (then) husband tried to do kangaroo, he was so hairy that the baby kept trying to root, opening his mouth and trying to nurse. Poor dad never got to successfully kangaroo! IT's been 11 years, but if Louanna, Maria, Susan, Kim ( nurse and lactation consultant from Valley City),Sheilaugh, Maggie and the two Kathy's are still there, please give them a hello from Joshua Shahrokh's (pronounced Sha-rock) family. He came home 2 days after Christmas 2001. We have a picture of him inside his Christmas stocking upon homecoming. Sending prayers for all of you.
