Brooklynn puckered up
Today's appointment went really well again! It was hard for me to lie on my back throughout the entire ultrasound but after many postion switches we got a good look at all the babies.
First, my cervix has not started to dilate yet however it has started to shorten. It measured just under 4 cm (?? I'm not sure if that is the correct measurement unit or not but...). This is still above average so there wasn't a need to be concerned about the length.
Leighton's entire body is now behind all three girls. His head is farthest to the right in my belly however if you want to see his feet you have to go to the complete left side of my body! I think that explains the large amount of back pain I have been feeling. All of the babies are very active for the majority of the day and night. I have been sleeping in about 1-2 hour intervals usually getting woken up with an odd shaped belly and what feels like babies playing leap-frog. Thier most active time is from about 11:00PM -2:00AM. I have pretty much given up on even trying to get sleep during that time. I have found that they do like music--Dave Matthews has been pretty successful lately at getting them to calm down. They do not like the sound of the TV though. If and when I do watch it I have to keep the remote as far away from my belly as possible since the speakers for the TV are in the actual remote. Jacob's voice is another thing that always gets them worked up. Sometimes I have to take him off of speaker phone or turn facetime down so they don't hear him as clearly.
Because I was so uncomfortable we did not do any 3-D pictures but we couldn't resist snapping this one of Brooklynn puckering her lips. If you look above the large white circle (her belly) in the black space you can see two cute little lips puckered up. Their heartbeats continue to be strong and all of their weights are ahead of schedule. A typical singleton baby weighs 1 lb. 11 oz. during the 26th week of pregnancy. Each of their weights are listed below-of course Giovanni continues to be the largest.
Giovanni: 2 lbs. 7 oz.
Brooklynn: 1 lb. 13 oz.
Jade: 1 lb. 13 oz.
Kensley: 1 lb. 14 oz.
Leighton: 1 lb. 15 oz.
All together that is just shy of 10 lbs. of baby that I'm carrying around! Total weight gain for the pregnancy is about 30 lbs. so far plus 10 more that I gained before becoming pregnant while going through infertility. My poor body is probably hating me right now for the crazy roller coaster it has been on! I am so thankful that before this whole process started that I was so diligent about working out and eating healthy. I think that has played a huge role in the success we have had so far. I can't wait to get back in the gym and feel like I have control over my own body again!!
