A friend of mine pointed out that its been a year already since we first learned about this crazy journey we have been on--hard to believe how fast time flies! Looking back on the past year causes me to fight back so many tears--so much was unknown back then. I think about all of the worries we had and how often we heard that what is reality now would be impossible to do. I guess it goes to show you that the impossible is possible!! I'm so thankful for the magnitude of good health and new friendships we have encountered. As hard as the day-to-day is with five babies I wouldn't have it any other way!

Today we took the babies for their 6 month check-up. Its hard to believe how fast time has gone. Everyone measured on the growth curve today for their actual birth date instead of their due date. I found myself fighting back tears simply because it was such a high-risk pregnancy filled with worry and now here we are with 5 beautiful, perfectly healthy babies! God has blessed us undoubtedly!!! We finally found a car we liked and in our price range that fit everyone too so we all got to ride together! It was surprisingly a quiet car ride too--within minutes they were all asleep! My mom and my aunt Pam both came with us to help as well. You can never have too many hands when five babies are getting shots! :) Giovanni 17 lbs. 3 oz. My first week back was an emotional one to say the least. Being home with the babies in the morning was always my favorite time spent with them. They wake up smiling and I liked the idea of being the person they saw to start their day. Its hard not being there for that each day. Knowing Jacob is home with them each morning though settles me slightly however I tend to be a little selfish when it comes to them;) so I still wish it were me home instead!! haha... Each of them are growing and accomplishing milestones each day. They are all able to roll over now- still have difficulty getting their arms out from underneath them but they are getting the hang of it. They reach for toys and excite themselves when they push buttons which make noise. When you talk to them they LOVE to talk back--especially Jade. She is going to be our little chatterbox!! You'll quickly see what I mean in the video below! Everyone is slobbering like crazy too--still waiting for that first tooth to break through though. The table we received from the family with the quintuplets has proven to be such a valuable item!! They are getting much more stable with sitting up and enjoy some time at the table playing with their toys. We have also noticed that they are starting to notice each other. Again, Jade especially...she will watch whomever is sitting next to her and talk to them or laugh hysterically. Lexi is also keeping us busy with soccer and her new found hobby--lacrosse. Sunday she played soccer in Mansfield and won--scoring the first goal of the season too!! Her first lacrosse game was Tuesday--this is the first year for Brunswick to have a girls lacrosse team so its a learning experience for everyone. She plays with girls ranging from 4th grade to 8th grade so I was nervous how she would hold up physically against the girls but she did really well. Her team lost by a couple goals (I think that's what they are called in lacrosse??). It is a fun sport to watch and I like being outside of my comfort zone of soccer--I love that she is trying new things and meeting new girls. I feel that alone is worth the craziness it adds to our day of running her around. |
