One of their favorite presents is Hug Me Elmo...the boys are waay more cuddly than the girls too!! Having a house full of babies is good motivation for Brooke to get moving again! It's hard to believe how quickly she is gaining her strength back...this video is proof of how determined she is to catch back up! Their personalities are really starting to come through as well...one of my favorite things to do is just sit back and watch them interact-the boys have such a cute bond...I looove when they give each other hugs!! Messy Eaters!!! Just a quick note to let everyone know Brooke made it home late Sunday afternoon. It's been crazy since then helping her adjust to being back at home with her brothers and sisters so I apologize for the lack of info and pictures!! They were all excited to see each other-Brooke had an ear to ear smile as we walked in. Jade and Goovanni gave her kisses and they all just pointed at her ---we wondered the entire time if they missed her and it was clear when she came home that they did! I wish I had pictures of this to show you but for once I just sat and took it all in and never thought to snap a picture! Brooke is adjusting really well to being home but tires very easily. It's hard for her to see everyone crawling and walking while she has to work in order to just sit. The only time she becomes frustrated is when she wants to be mobile and play and realizes she isn't strong enough for that yet. We see her gain strength each day but it's going to take some time to get her back to where she used to be! Her personality is back in full force though!! It's great to see her smile when we say cheese and shoot you the mean face when she hears you talking about her! Haha Finally able to rock her to sleep! I cried just about the entire time! It felt amazing to be able to truly comfort her and feel her be at ease in my arms. Today is a big day!!! Brooklynn was able to leave the ICU and go to step down. As long as things continue to go well we should be home by this time next week:)! The news just keeps getting better. Brooke was taken off of all oxygen support today! It's great to see her beautiful little smile without all the cords and wires. We should be home within a weeks time as long as things keep going so smoothly! It's hard to believe how fast things are moving after just sitting and waiting for so long! Meanwhile back at home the babies continue to keep things interesting! Although we aren't completely out of the woods yet a much awaited day finally came...Brooke was extubated today-no more breathing tube!!! The doctors said she handled it really well and smiled almost immediately after it was removed. I couldn't wait 5 seconds after walking in the room until I had to hold her...I missed her hugs and feeling her breath on me-it was bittersweet though because as good as it felt I couldn't hold her long because she was absolutely exhausted. It also made me realize how much strength she lost during these past three weeks. It was hard for her to hold up her head and even though she wanted to reach out to us we could tell it was very labored for her...she will bounce back in no time-I know she will! They have her on a nasal cannula now to assist her with the transition. I am soo proud of the fight she has inside her! When I arrived at the hospital today for my "shift" I was told that Brooke could be extubated within the next few days!! BEST NEWS we could possibly ask for! Jacob and I took this week off school so hopefully that will be enough to get Brooke home! |
