Traditions have changed with the arrival of 5 little ones in our family!! This year for the Fourth of July we celebrated with friends and family. On the 3rd we surprised Lexi with a slumber party with some friends that she hasn't gotten to see in quite a while. It was so cute to see her face when they showed up--it was like it was yesterday when they last played. Their mom and I decided that we had to stay in touch better and get the girls together more regularly. They originally were planning on staying the night in the tent but not everyone was willing once it got dark--haha..
For the 4th we decided to take a road trip and visit Jacob's parents for the afternoon. I think we spent more time packing and getting the carseats loaded than we actually spent at his parents but it was nice to get out of the house for awhile. Jacob's brother (Uncle Kat--as the babies know him) actually lives in an apartment about a minute from our house in Medina so the babies have grown pretty close to him in the past couple months. He usually stops over in the evening after work and its nice to have an extra person around for the bedtime feeding. On the nights when Amy shows up too things go really smoothly!! :)
We have been fortunate enough to still receive some help from volunteers over the summer. Its allowed us to get some projects done as well as get a little sanity time out of the house! We finally finished the kitchen cabinets and installed the hardware. Overall I'm very happy with the way they turned out...makes a big difference in the overall look of the kitchen for a relatively small price. The next project we are tackling is adding a set of stairs on the back side of the deck to allow us to get to the swings easier. Eventually we will be adding a sandbox back there as well so there will be many trips to the side of the house; the stairs will not only make the deck look nicer but keep us from wearing out the grass in the path to the swings!
As the babies get older their personalities are really starting to shine through! In these videos below you can see how much Leighton loves to jump and what a cute relationship Jade and Leighton have--unfortunately they tamed down once I started to record them though.
